One should never underestimate the power of an office chair. With so much time we spend in the office (or home office), picking an excellent ergonomic and comfortable chair to work on is a pretty important decision. The modular platform concept was born from the workplace’s need to grow or shrink over time, which, therefore, also requires furniture that can be updated in individual passages and rebuilt. With flexibility and mobility as primary features, Spine can be adapted to current needs and endlessly reconfigured.

As the name suggests, Spine has a “spine” with a step-less bracket to adjust the height of the backrest and headrest. The modular and flexible design becomes a common thread that connects everything from meeting rooms to touch-down office areas and studio environments.

The layer-by-layer design platform promotes the brand’s commitment to circular economy, for the chair’s components can be removed, repaired and updated over time, giving it long lifespan.

Swing Chair by 250 Design

Primarily designed for those who spend most of their days sitting down in the office (or home office), Swing Chair by Seoul-based design firm 250 Design has an axis that can rotate 360 degrees with an inclination of about 5 degrees from the floor, helping users to move and posture naturally, even in a small place.

Designed for people who work in small spaces, the Swing Chair does not feature wheels, compensating for the lack of wheels with a swivel and spindle that can rotate, lean back and forward, and tilt from side to side, according to various movements of the user. Otherwise, the Swing Chair is the same as a normal chair.

In addition, both sides of the seat plate are made in a shape that holds the hips so that the movement can receive power naturally, while the backrest plate forms to the shape of the user’s back to bolster their posture and encourage an upright spine.

Fortune Chair by Hyeyoung Han and Hanyoung Lee

Designed by Korean designers Hyeyoung Han and Hanyoung Lee, the Fortune Chair is really a mix between a bean bag, chair, and a pod. As its name suggests, the piece is inspired by a a fortune cookie, which is traditionally associated with an amusing and exciting experience of getting a sneak peek into your future. According to the designers, the chair design similarly aims to stimulate the imagination and to allow the user to think.

The signature feature of the chair is a wooden outer wall, which serves as a covering frame element that encloses the user. Inside, there is a bean bag. The outer wall helps to create a calm, comfortable and private space, which means it can be used in a similar way as office pods in modern offices – i.e. enabling the user to work in peace even in an open-space.

When not in use, the chair can be closed, much like an unopened fortune cookie. This helps to efficiently store away the chair and also arouses a sense of curiosity from anyone in the room.
