Whether it’s answering emails, struggling with Excel, or attending meetings, repetitive daily tasks at a desk can feel monotonous and uninspiring. However, these ingenuous “deskterior” accessories have been designed to bring some joy into your workspaces enhancing productivity and comfort.

Designed by Soobin Cho, Junyoung Lee, Seoyeong Lee, and Hyunsub ‍Shin, Plat is a collection of desk products intended to instill excitement into office routine. The name “plat,” which stands for “cooking” in French hints that the design team has drawn inspiration from mundane cooking experiences.

For example, the multifunctional Wireless Charging Dock serves not only as a wireless charging station for smartphones but also offers efficient task management tools. First, it features an identity timer that serves as a trigger for initiating work sessions. When the user lifts the cradle, an ambient light signals the start of focused work. Informed by the gradual heat buildup in cooking, the timer employs color interactions that intensify over time.

Secondly, intuitive dashboard interface on the smartphone allows the users to track urgent goals and sub-tasks, monitor weekly work time and concentration levels, as well as access detailed analysis reports for insightful self-assessments.

The design also includes additional wired charging ports at the back with a loop to keep the cables safe from damage. Another functional feature is a storage box at the bottom that serves to accommodate desk essentials, while a charging inlet and cable loop prevent clutter and damage.

Plat’s Desk Lighting not only serves to illuminate the workspace. Upon completion of work time, the indirect lighting gently fades, signaling a transition to rest. To enhance the relaxation after a task-oriented session, a diffuser at the bottom releases subtle scents, prompting users to take much-needed breaks.

Design details are as aesthetic as they are functional. A labeled button allows for easy brightness adjustment, while a storage tray at the base accommodates smaller items like phones or stationery.

Yazak collection of dark-themed desk accessories developed by Jiye Lee, Seoyeong Jang, Junhong Yang, Taeyoon Kim, and Jeongeun Kim goes beyond helping people remain productive. It is specially designed for those working long hours into the night. Aptly, the name of the range is a play on the Korean word for midnight snacks.

Tempo desk lamp uses the same principle as Plat’s Desk Lighting. it doubles as a timer that decreases the amount of light as time passes, after which the lamp turns off signaling the user to take a break.

Dodule is a modular scheduler comprised of a stack of discs, each of them representing a project and the deadline for that project. A tiny ball sitting on top marks the passage of time, letting you know how long it will take to finish the project that the disc represents.

Plop is another device with an integrated timer. Not another cup coaster, it includes a simple mechanism that measures time before another break encouraging the user to stay hydrated. The timer is started by simply pushing the ball down to its lowest point. The sphere will slowly rise and gives a signal for a break when it reaches the top.

The Bitle concept device uses sensor to detect the body’s posture. In case the user is not sitting properly, the concept design moves the top plate to symbolize the lack of balance.

Conceptualized by Yunshang Edu, Ii Jianfeng, and Szesam Oze, Modular Design desk accessories pay homage to the world-famous Lego building blocks. The various devices can be used on their own to add some fun to the workspace but can also be assembled together in various combinations for more versatility.

Wireless Bluetooth speaker titled Grasshopper looks like a classic Lego piece. Attached to it can be other modules shown in the product renders. These include storage boxes that are meant for small plants, a night LED light, a card holder, a small fan, as well as mini figures of various characters.
